Satin Chrome Plating
Satin Chrome finish is achieved initially by bombarding the surface to
be hard chrome plated with a slurry medium, made up from either glass
bead or alumina particles of various sizes and water.
This slurry is applied to the surface using an airstream under pressure.
This process is called "Vaqua Blasting" and ensures that any
micro mechanical debris that could adversely affect any subsequent hard
chromium plating is removed.
A matt textured finish is achieved that when it is hard chrome plated
it will be a satin chrome finish.
Normally 2.5 microns is applied, any thicker will nullify the underlying
matt finish.
Satin chrome is mainly used in the textile and machine tool industry.
Most metals can be treated except aluminium. |
